Issues with Windows Vista

Honestly, I am completely fed up with Windows Vista. It is hands down, the worst Windows operating system I have used yet, and I am completely sure of it.

First off, let's start with the basics. It crashes way more then XP. Has way more hardware problems then XP. Way more software issues then XP. Less user friendly. More resource-greedy. And I can totally break that down with explanation and example.

Myself being the web designer that I am, I like to run a dual display setup. I run a specific program called Input Director to cascade my mouse & keyboard onto two seperate computers/computer monitors display. Normally not a problem. When I start the second computer, I usually have to have a USB keyboard hooked up that I can use to type in the password. Once in windows, I can use Input Director to manipulate that computer.

Lately I had to switch to a PS2 keyboard, as I left my backup USB keyboard somewhere. The PS2 keyboard would freeze the computer all the time; just jostling the keyboard wire would make the whole PC freeze. I started to get aggravated.

I eventually got my old USB keyboard back, but the freezing problem would persist. It seems now to be a problem with Windows Media Player. If I use iTunes now it works fine, but in Media Player listening to music the computer would generally freeze 5-10 minutes into playback.

That's pretty sad when I have to stop using a Windows component due to a problem like that. And my sound card is very new; I have the latest drivers....didn't change any drivers or setup, the PC just started freezing in Media Player.

So now I have to wonder if I can even play movies on that PC, as I play them in media player. And that's just one of the problems I have encountered in Vista. I have a plethora of others I have found but I will get to them all.

I realize this is a unique problem, but since I have upgraded to Vista all I have ran into are "unique" problems, or very very stupid ones. For instance, I recently purchased a mouse & keyboard combo by Microsoft. Made for Vista, it said. I got the Intellitype combo home and inserted the disc to be told the disc is not for Vista. Great marketing there. And of course, searching through drivers led me nowhere. SEARCHING FOR DRIVERS IN VISTA WILL ALWAYS END YOU NOWHERE. You have to use Windows Update to get the driver, or the CD. The CDs that come with "Vista-approved hardware" usually don't work, and when Windows Update dosen't work (very often) you are dead in the water. Return the hardware or decide to endure the torture of attempting to find a working Vista driver (again, nonexistent chance there).
